These service changes include;
Over 1000 additional services, including more services during peak, on weekends and late at night

There will be a number of upcoming changes to the numbers of some bus routes across Sydney. Focusing in on routes with non-standard route numbers (any route without a regular 3-digit route number), all routes will be renumbered into a regular system. All routes will either have a three digit number (e.g. 000, 374, 999), a three digit number followed by ‘X’ to denote an express or limited stops version of a route (e.g. 000X, 374X, 999X) or a three digit number followed by ‘N’ to denote an overnight route (e.g. 000N, 374N, 999N).
Some bus routes are being renumbered in order to ensure a uniform numbering system across the network. Route 309X is one example of a route in the new system – Transport NSW Blog Collection
A large majority of routes already have a regular route number, so these changes will be mainly focused at ‘express’, ‘limited stops’, ‘metrobus’ or ‘T-Way’ route services. Of course, some of these routes have already received this change. All CDC Hillbus express services have been numbered with a ‘X’ suffix at the end of years, and recently STA introduced this on their Botany Road corridor. Some overnight services on flagship corridors, such as STA’s 333 and 400, have had services between midnight and 5am renumbered 333N and 400N for over a year. The changes now are to ensure that this is uniformly applied across the network.
Transport NSW Blog supports these changes to the network. We believe that it is important to retain a uniform numbering system for all bus routes across Sydney and NSW, and that integrating all routes across Sydney more uniformly into the current system is a big win. Despite this, we want to ensure that these changes are indeed applied across the whole network. Too often we see half hearted changes that get applied to half the network but then never get fully rolled out. All routes need to comply with the new system fully, and realistically all non-compliant routes should move across at the same time in order to avoid any drawn out period of noncompliant routes.
STA Region 8, covering the Lower North Shore and Northern Beaches area will be making these changes across all of its express and limited stops routes from Sunday 3 May 2020. It is understood that STA Region 9, covering the Eastern Suburbs and Inner City as well as TSA Region 6, covering the Inner West and Inner South will change over to the new system when the long awaited changes to the South East bus network due to the opening of the light rail occur. It is anyones guess as to when that and the other regions renumbering will occur, however it is expected to be completed later this year across STA and TSA.

Busabout Wagga will operate more than 240 extra bus services in Wagga Wagga from Monday 30 March 2020 in the biggest ever increase to public transport for the major regional centre. This will include new evening services as late as 9pm for most routes on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, Sunday service for the first time between 9am and 5pm as well as more route options and more frequent services.
This increase is part of the NSW Government Regional Growth Program, which is funding increases to bus services in 16 major centres across Regional NSW. Tweed was the first to receive the increase in December 2019, and is now followed by Wagga Wagga.

South-East Bus commuters got a first look at their bus network today, after confidential plans containing the proposal was leaked overnight. These changes are being introduced due to the opening of the CBD and South East Light Rail, in order to reduce service duplication between the tram and the bus network. The proposed changes will begin at some point after the L3 Kingsford Line of the light rail network opens later this month.

It is important to note that this confidential document is a draft document of the changes ONLY and is subject to change. Transport NSW Blog has confirmed the validity of the document with internal sources, which they say is mostly final, but do warn that some changes may occur. Transport NSW Blog has been made aware that an official announcement is to be expected later this week and it is believed that the leak was deliberate leak.

Surfside Buslines Tweed Heads will operate over 450 new additional weekly bus services as part of a regional growth bus program to improve bus services in regional areas, with more services to popular locations like Kingscliff TAFE and longer operating hours on key routes.

The new services include 160 extra weekly services before 7am and after 6pm and 50 new weekly services before 5am and after 9pm.
Every route in the Tweed will have a direct or timetabled connecting service to The Tweed Hospital, Tweed Mall and the Queensland border. Services to the hospital have been improved between 5am and 11pm weekdays, with buses every 15 minutes during most parts of the day. Kingscliff TAFE will be easier to access with the 601 doubling in frequency and a new 609 route from Murwillumbah.
The additional and improved services will start from Monday 16 December 2019.

From Sunday 17 November 2019, changes to bus services will be introduced in Sydney’s North West and Northern Beaches.
These changes will provide more reliable journeys and easier connections to Metro stations at including Rouse Hill, Kellyville, Castle Hill and Cherrybrook. There are now better connections right across the Hills District, addressing many concerns about the network introduced earlier this year. This includes a complete redesign of services around Cherrybrook as well as high frequencies network wide.
There will also be improved improved travel options across the Northern Beaches, with more frequent B-Line services and new connections to the Northern Beaches Hospital.

From Monday January 6 2020, there will be an extra northbound service on the T5 Cumberland line each weekday during the morning peak.
The new direct all-stops morning peak service departs Leppington at 7.07am, arriving at key stations such as Parramatta at 7.49am, Blacktown at 8.07am and Schofields at 8.17am.
The existing 7.21am all stops Leppington to Schofields service will instead depart at 7.37am, arriving at key stations such as Parramatta at 8.19am, Blacktown at 8.37am and Schofields at 8.47am.
These changes will create a consistent half hourly frequency throughout the morning peak, reducing the wait time between services by up to 16 minutes.
Over the past year, patronage on the T5 Cumberland line has surged, creating over crowding, particularly on the highly popular 7:21am service. 30 per cent more passengers arrived at Parramatta on T5 trains this year compared to last.
Transport Minister Andrew Constance noted “By boosting capacity on an increasingly busy part of the network, customers across the south-west region including Glenfield, Liverpool and Cabramatta will enjoy a more comfortable and convenient morning commute. Customers from the T8 South Line between Macarthur and Macquarie Fields will also benefit from the new service as it provides an extra connection at Glenfield to T5 services headed towards Parramatta and further west.”
The T6 Carlingford Line between Clyde and Carlingford is being permanently closed from 5 January 2020. This closure is to allow for the construction of Parramatta light rail between Carlingford and Westmead, which will partially use the corridor.
The Parramatta Light Rail will partially use the old Carlingford rail corridor – Transport for NSW
A new bus route will service the corridor between Carlingford and Parramatta during light rail construction. Route 535 will operate from January 5, 2020 with stops at Carlingford, Telopea, Dundas, Rydalmere, Camellia/Rosehill and Parramatta CBD.
Trams are due to start running along the first part of the route in 2023. When the light rail opens it will provide the same area with a service every seven and a half minutes between 7am and 7pm on weekdays.
