Sydney Metro Northwest between Chatswood and Tallawong will open for passengers on 26 May 2019. Trains will operate through 13 newly built or upgraded stations throughout the Northern and North Western suburbs of Sydney. Sydney Metro Northwest is the first driverless and fully accessible railway in Australia.
During the initial operating period services will operate at a reduced frequency, with 12 trains an hour between 7-9am and 4-7pm Monday to Friday and 6 trains an hour at other times. Initially services will operate between 5am and 9:30pm Sunday through Wednesday, until 12am on Thursday and between 4am and 1:30am on Friday and Saturday.
Later this year services will move to a consistent 4am-1:30am daily, with 15 trains an hour between 6:30am-9:30am and 4-7pm Monday to Friday and 6 trains an hour at other times. Before then, a North West night bus will operate every 10 minutes between 10pm and 1am Sunday through Wednesday.

There will be a number of associated bus changes throughout the northwest, most notably the cessation of the Stationlink bus network and diversion of bus services to stop at the new Metro stations. Full details will be in a later post.
I cannot wait until this line is open. I’m absolutely stoked.
